The Austrian Freeski Open 2011 will again be held in Zell am See- Kaprun, Austria, from February 23 to 27 2011. At the Kitzsteinhorn Snowpark, numerous world-class freeskiers will battle for the crown of the Austrian Freeski Open!
The first winter snowfalls have already raised the excitement: winter has started! For many professional and uprising freeskiers this means to focus on their preparations for one of their season s highlights, the 9th edition of the Austrian Freeski Open. For the second year it will be hosted by Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria, and the flagship snow park of the One Big Park region, the Kitzsteinhorn Snowpark. From February 23 to 27 2011, the international freeskiing elite will dig deep into their bag of tricks and rip the rails, kickers and special obstacles of the Kitzsteinhorn Snowpark. Head shaper Stefan Plattner and his crew will care for a perfectly prepared park.
Some days before and after the Austrian Freeski Open, the Red Bull Playstreets and the European Open will take place. This high-carat European freeski event block will attract top-notch riders from all over the world. As usual, the contestants will compete in three categories: apart from the prestigious open men s and women s competitions, the rookie category with youth riders under 16 will provide some additional thrills.
Despite being an internationally highly acknowledged event, the Austrian Freeski Open will still remain a gathering of the freeskiing family. The event will be kicked off by the Freeski Night Show at Zell am See on February 23 2011. In addition to the action in the snow park up the mountain, an attractive package of side events, concerts and DJ acts will transform Zell am See-Kaprun into the centre of freeskiing.
