A few skate punks getting hassled by twice as many
cops.
Stumbled across this article today on a NYC-based website, BatteryPark.TV. It discusses how "gangs of skateboarders" are roaming the streets of New York causing havoc. It also berates an article in the NY blog The Gothamist on being "misguided" and too light on skaters. The Gothamist captured a photo of two kids surrounded by six or seven cops by saying:

"How Many Cops Need To Talk To Skateboarding Kids?"

The Battery author continues to assert that most skateboarders, rather than being "a harmless nuisance" are actually organized bands of blood brothers that beat cops and innocent pedestrians with skateboards and lead pipes.

"These gangs of underage skateboarders have started to maraud the city and cause physical violence."

No we all saw the movie KIDS back in the day. Drug using, social deviants that smoked weed in Washington Square park and roofied girls at parties - a hedonistic assault on moral virtue and clean leaving worthy of Sodom and Gomorra that signified the fall of mankind. Or so you would think had the author of this BatteryPark.TV article wrote the review.

Seems to us that this author is letting a few bad apples in the big apple, further tarnish their already biased view on skateboarding and skateboarders. If you'd like to leave a comment please do so below or here.

We agree with BatteryPark.TV wholeheartedly. These gangs are getting violent and know that the adults can't touch them.

This is the absolute epitome of stupidity. Sure, continue to ostracize the youth in an area of their lives that they think is fun. Continue to tell them that their sport is useless. "I am sure they will grow up one day.." pshhh.
