The North Face Masters Stop #2 kicks off at Crystal
Mountain.Day one of The North Face Masters of Snowboarding at Crystal Mountain kicked off with impressive airs and tight chutes nailed by both men and women in challenging snow conditions. The top scores from today were given to the most fluid, stylish snowboarders on Northway Peak. Northwest riders made a big showing with Crystal Mountain local Sky Risvold currently holding first place for the men.
Squaw Valley native Ross Baker, who placed fifth at the Snowbird stop, is in second. He is followed by Lucas DeBari from Mt. Baker. On the femme side of the competition Laura Dewey from Snowbird was the top competitor thus far with Mary Boddington from Crested Butte trailing behind- the two tied for fourth place in Snowbird. In third place is Shanna Yates, who has won several North Face Masters of Snowboarding events previously.
The day started off with sunny skies with snow beginning to fall late morning. By the end of the men s competition over an inch of snow had fallen. Tomorrow s venue will be announced in the morning, however if the snow continues as forecasted, it might be a weather day.
