Anon Optics Launches Lens Visualizer Iphone App
by: Jimbo

In case you forget which lens to wear...Anon Optics is proud to unveil its first iPhone App, now available for free through the iTunes App Store. The standout feature of the new anon App is the industry s first-ever live-view Lens Visualizer tool that lets riders virtually test which anon lens is best at any given location in a matter of seconds.

Here s how anon s exclusive virtual tool works: Once a rider selects the anon Lens Visualizer, their iPhone will use the camera lens as a view finder to capture their actual surroundings. Then, riders can point the phone at whatever they want (say the base lodge or the mountain) and see how it would look under six different anon lens tints. The tool allows riders to swipe from the darkest to lightest lens tint so they can see which color lens they prefer for the day s conditions.

In addition to the Lens Visualizer, the new anon App also features three more sections called Goggles , Tech and Team. The Goggles section includes photos and descriptions of all current anon styles, including all the details on the brand new Hawkeye Primary Color Collection, available now in super limited quantities at select anon dealers. A shop locator is also available in the Goggles section so riders can find the nearest store that carries anon. In the Tech section, riders will find clear definitions of standout features like anon s spherical lens technology and dual triple density face foam. And last but not least, the Team section features bios and photos of all pro riders sponsored by anon.

To see all these amazing features for yourself and to preview the super limited Hawkeye Primary Color Collection, download the new anon App today at the iTunes App Store

Burton AK Jacket Performs in the Rain
by: Jimbo

Burton originally created the AK line in the late 90s to combat all the crappy outerwear that was flooding the market. A lot of single stitch, sample quality fabrics with little to know technical capability. As snowboarders began venturing further into places like Alaska, it become clear that Burton's team riders and others pushing the performance of their gear needed items that stood up to the elements. That evolution improved later when Gore-Tex got involved making Burton's AK a truly waterproof garment of the highest quality. And if that doesn't convince you check out what the slick marketing team at Burton put together. The music alone is enough to make you want to wear your jacket in the rain---though we prefer snow, of course.

Surfers in Maine Fight Parking Ban
by: Jimbo

Higgins Beach in Maine is a popular destination for Surfers in New England. Along with a few other destinations nearby including the narrow coast of New Hampshire, Higgins provides one of the top quality surf breaks between Boston and Portland, a few hundred miles of coastline.

Currently there's a battle raging in the town of Higgins Beach, a hamlet that's adjacent to the larger town of Scarborough regarding parking.

Currently there's a parking ban in effect from April 1st through October 1st. However, residents of Higgins are now calling for additional rules in the off season that would limit parking at the Higgins Beach public access lot to a few 30 minute spaces.

Anyone who surfs would essentially be forced to suffer the risk of a parking ticket any time you paddled out.

Those advocating the change are an ad-hoc committee of a handful of local residents who are concerned that the quality of life in their beach community has been eroded by too much traffic and surfers de-robing in public.

The local Surfrider chapter is involved trying to mitigate the effects of this looming parking regulation that will have a huge negative impact for surfers in the region.

Here are a couple links that shed more light on the scenario. Lend your voice if you care about surf access anywhere, but especially along the coast of Maine.
